How to open and save simulationsHow to open a simulationThere are two types of saved simulations: those that are pre-loaded in MoHAT and those that you run on your machine and save. Since both of these types of simulations are accessible from the same place in MoHAT, follow the directions below to open either type.
How to save a simulation
What is saved in a simulation? When you save a simulation, a file is created that contains the .out file used to load the circuit plus some extra information on the exact positioning and rotation of each element. Neither updated state variables nor open graphs are saved to the file. The saved file is then stored on your local machine in a specially created folder whose location is set by your browser. Due to security measures, that location is set up as the only place a shockwave application can save data on a local computer. If for whatever reason you wish to find these files and edit them, then do a file search for "mohatIndex" to locate the folder on your machine. Each of the simulations are saved in separate files with the naming convention "mohatxxx" where xxx is a numerical number. These files are specifically formatted to be opened by MoHAT, so make sure to first backup the files if you are going to make changes. Accessibility of saved simulationsAs previously stated, any simulation you save is stored on your local machine, so it will only be accessible from the same location. There are, however, pre-loaded simulations that will appear in the Open control menu from any machine. These simulations that load are specific to which account you're using. When an account is first created, a limited number of simulations can be stored on the MoHAT server to be accessed from any location for users of that account. Although anybody from an account can open the simulations, only the superuser can add or remove them. |
